Today we play with the subharmonic series! By taking advantage of FALISTRI’s ‘on rest’ behavior, we can use it as a sort of formant oscillator and achieve some odd frequency divisions. Have you tried yet?
INGREDIENTS
- FALISTRI
- BRENSO (Or the other FALISTRI generator set to work as an oscillator).
DIRECTIONS
- Set your oscillator’s pitch very high.
- Set FALISTRI’s green generator to Transient mode and its time scale to Short.
- Set its reset behavior On Rest.
(The switch is on the PCB!) - Patch your oscillator’s square output to FALISTRI’s green Trig/Gate input.
- Patch FALISTRI’s green bipolar output to your favorite output section.
(You’ll now hear the oscillator’s pitch, but the timbre will come from Falistri.) - Gently increase the Rise and Fall times.
(You’ll notice the timbre getting fatter, until the frequency will drop by an octave, then a fourth, then another octave, then a minor third… This is the subharmonic series.) - If you are running a sequence, try applying the same V/oct signal to both the oscillator and FALISTRI.
