This post is about how our online store came to life and how it will work as of October 2022.
Big news: starting from tomorrow, our online store will be up and running. After many years of “we don’t sell directly,” it is a major change for us, even if it won’t change that much for you. In this blog post, we want to tell its full story and how it will work.
The story
Flashback to 2015. We believe in the importance of physical stores for trying out our instruments before purchasing them, and we also know that many musicians have their preferred shops. When we started our company, we wanted to build a solid network of trusted resellers, and we decided not to sell directly to ease this process. You can find our updated reseller list here.
After seven years, we feel like we cemented our relationship with the shops, and we feel ready to open our own store. But there’s more than just wanting to ship some boxes, especially for two reasons.
As you may know, we have been forced to raise our prices for the first time since 2015. We can’t tell if it will be the last, even if we hope so.
By opening our shop, we plan to use the extra revenue of the direct sales to keep the price increment to a fair amount.
The other reason is sustainability, which is one of our greatest concerns. We summarized our thoughts and doubts here, and it’s a relevant topic because every sale must be shipped, and every shipment leaves a carbon footprint. We are of course aware that it is not possible to be completely “green,” but we still believe that we should try every little thing that can at least improve our carbon footprint.
We thus chose to rely on DHL’s GoGreen service: this method calculates an estimate of CO2 for each shipment and then automatically compensates it (you can find more info here). This way, we can guarantee that every sale on our online store is entirely zero-impact, but there’s more.
We chose Stripe as our payment method, mainly because it offers a zero-emission protocol called Stripe Climate. It is thus possible to devote a fraction of our revenues to some carbon-reduction projects, which you can find on this page.
Thanks to that, not only our shipments are compensated, but with every transaction, we are actually improving the global CO2 balance.
Since we care about our reseller network and we know that many of you prefer to buy locally, we chose to treat our online store like every other shop. We plan to sell limited quantities of available modules according to the available stocks. Our store will receive the products as if it was another dealer, following the current orders queue. In other words, we’ll stick to first come, first served.
How it will work
We restyled the old module and accessory pages to incorporate the shop tools. You can find every item on our shop page and also spotlighted on the new homepage.
When a module is available on our store, its page will have two options: Find a Reseller or Buy Now. The first button leads you to the resellers’ page, while the second one adds the module to the basket. From this point on, you’ll see a standard checkout procedure.
It is not possible to order modules that are currently out of stock. Instead, it is possible to receive a notification about the first next restock. Please note that these reminders aren’t perpetual: if you don’t (or can’t) purchase the item, you need to activate a second reminder, and so on.
Please note that the in-site online store is directed to private customers only. If you wish to purchase our products as a business or as a professional, feel free to drop us a line!
And this is all about our forthcoming online store! If anything will change, we’ll promptly inform you via our newsletter, social channels, and this very blog.
We hope you’ll like it as much as we do. If you want to stay updated on modules availability, click here to join our newsletter.
