Today we started to fiddle with BRENSO’s sync options! The Lock Sync is excellent when we want to remove any beats between the yellow and green oscillators. It provides a subtle and precise synchronization, excellent for blending multiple waveforms. The Flip Sync is more aggressive and changes the green oscillator’s timbre dramatically because it forces the green waveform to the rising stage at every yellow wave cycle. We may no longer be able to guess the green waveform, but it sounds so good! Since preserving the pitch is no longer a priority, don’t be shy and twist those frequency knobs!

INGREDIENTS

  • BRENSO
  • QSC (Optional)
  • USTA (Optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix the sounds of all the BRENSO waveforms you want.
  2. Tune the oscillators very closely, but leave some beating.
  3. Activate the Lock Sync.
    (Now the beating disappears.)
  4. Try to detune the green oscillator and hear how it sounds.
(It’s not that great because the sync circuit can’t keep up with the frequency difference.)
  5. Activate the Flip Sync option and notice the results.
  6. (Optional) Create a pattern on the USTA and control the BRENSO to try these concepts in context.
